What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a tea that has been cultured. Like other cultured foods, such as yogurt and kefir, the culturing period is when the transformation occurs. During that time our Kombucha becomes naturally rich with Probiotics, Amino Acids, Polyphenols and Active Enzymes.

What is the difference between GT’s Kombucha and GT’s Synergy?

GT’s Enlightened Kombucha and GT’s Enlightened Synergy both use Kombucha that is 100% certified organic and raw. GT’s Enlightened Kombucha is 98% Kombucha and 2% organic flavoring, while GT’s Enlightened Synergy is 95% Kombucha and 5% unsweetened organic fruit juice or puree.

Synergy is a great starter for those new to Kombucha, as it has a milder taste.

What does it taste like?

Kombucha is a cultured beverage, so it does have a tangy taste similar to an apple cider vinegar. Our taste buds are so used to sugary drinks that the tart and slightly biting taste of Kombucha might initially catch you off-guard.

What are the floaties in there?

These are strands of healthy culture! The culture is not visibly present at the time of bottling, but form afterwards as an indication that the product is still living and active. The longer that the product is bottled, the more culture strands form. Think of it like a coral reef that harbors billions of living probiotics.

Does Kombucha contain caffeine?

Our products are considered naturally decaffeinated and contain anywhere from 8mg to 14 mg per serving. (By comparison, coffee has 100mg of caffeine per 8 ounces and decaf has 5mg per 8 ounces.)

Is it supposed to be fizzy?

The effervescence in GT’s Kombucha products is 100% naturally occurring and can vary from batch to batch and bottle to bottle. Unlike soda, the effervescence actually increases over time; therefore fresher product tends to be on the quieter side. The quality and benefits are still present in our Kombucha even if the effervescence is not.

Who can drink Kombucha?

Every one of all ages can enjoy Kombucha! Just remember that children are smaller, therefore their servings should be as well.

How much should I drink?

Everyone has a unique system, therefore we suggest listening to your body when trying to determine the appropriate amount for you. However, if you are a first-time consumer, it is best to slowly introduce Kombucha to your system; have 4-6 ounces before breakfast and then gradually increase your intake.

Can Kombucha be consumed during pregnancy?

It is generally accepted that women should not introduce anything new to their system during pregnancy. Therefore, we always advise consulting with your doctor.

How do I store it?

Because it is a raw, living food, ALWAYS keep your Kombucha in the refrigerator (33-40°F). Additionally, GT’s Kombucha should always be stored upright and never on its side.

Can I shake it?

Do NOT shake the bottle. If shaken, an overflow can occur due to the natural effervescence. To mix the sediment, we recommend tilting the bottle gently back and forth.

Can I drink the product after its expiration date?

We advise to consume our Kombucha either on or before the date printed on top of the cap.

What is Coconut Kefir?

Coconut Kefir is a probiotic beverage made from young, raw coconut water with 15-30 billion live CFU’s (colony forming units) of beneficial, probiotic bacteria per serving. It is 100% vegan and dairy free.

How do you make CocoKefir?

GT’s CocoKefir starts with fresh young coconuts that we crack by hand in Los Angeles. The raw coconut water is delicately fermented in small batches using “kefir” probiotics which transform the sweet water into a tangy low-sugar probiotic rich beverage that helps replenish the gut and support healthy digestion. CocoKefir is raw and truly alive which is why we call it a “Living Coconut Water”.

Is there sugar added?

We’re happy to share that there’s no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Who can benefit from drinking CocoKefir?

Everyone can benefit from the probiotics and nutrition in CocoKefir, but people who seek LIVE probiotics and wish to avoid dairy, gluten, soy and high sugar levels in particular will find CocoKefir a wonderful probiotic solution.

I drank a full serving the first time I drank CocoKefir. My stomach felt bloated and I felt some churning in my gut.

This is a good thing! It means it is working! Start out with a tablespoon and work your way up to a 1⁄4 cup or full 1⁄2 cup serving (for those customers who seek a more therapeutic serving) over a week or two.

How many CocoKefir flavors do you currently offer?

Our CocoKefir can be enjoyed in three different varieties – Pure, Cacao and Matcha. Each flavor offers a unique essence that does not take away from the main ingredient, CocoKefir.

What kind of coconuts are used in the making of CocoKefir & CocoYo?

We use 100% Raw Organic Coconuts and we extract the water and pulp fresh in our very own facility.

Are there any common food allergens in CocoKefir?

People who are allergic to coconut should not consume CocoKefir. Beyond that, CocoKefir is dairy free, gluten free, soy free, low in sugar, and low calorie.

Other than the benefits of the probiotics, what other benefits does CocoKefir offer?

CocoKefir contains potassium, magnesium, and manganese – all good “brain nutrients.”

What is the difference between the probiotics in CocoKefir and other probiotics supplements?

The bacteria in pill or powdered probiotics are in a dormant state – meaning they are hibernating. They are not dead, but they are not alive either. Their numbers are reported “At Time of Manufacture.” Many people question how many actually survive to thrive and populate the gut. The probiotics in CocoKefir are LIVE AT THE TIME OF CONSUMPTION and are swimming in a food matrix that supports them. They begin working immediately upon entering the body. CocoKefir is a live, raw, fermented food.

How long can a bottle be stored for after opening?

A bottle can be stored in the fridge until the enjoy by date printed on the cap. For the best tasting experience, we recommend enjoying our product chilled. Ideally, bottles should be stored upright between 33-37 degrees Fahrenheit.

I can’t find CocoKefir at my local supermarket. Where can I purchase it?

What is GT’s Alive?

Made with the therapeutic gifts of Mother Earth, GT’s Alive is a lightly sweet, sparkling probiotic beverage that can support pH balance and aid digestion. Naturally caffeinated, each bottle offers beneficial nutrients and plant adaptogens derived from a trio of medicinal mushrooms.

How is Alive made?

We begin by steeping a trio of medicinal mushrooms: chaga, reishi, and turkey tail, which are then combined with thoughtfully selected varieties of loose leaf tea to support a healthy system. Is Alive raw and living?

We use a blend of wild mushrooms in Alive that are sourced in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States:

Does Alive have caffeine?

Yes, Alive is naturally caffeinated. Each unique flavor uses a select variety of organic herbal loose leaf tea that can provide long lasting energy, clarity, and focus. Due to the low tannin content and low levels of acidity, unlike coffee, Alive can invigorate the body without the jitters.

Where are the ingredients in Alive sourced?

  • Loose Leaf Teas – Our Yerba Maté and Guayusa teas are sourced from the holly trees in the Amazonian rainforest. The Yerba Maté is Ceremonial shade-grown from South America, while the Guayusa is from Ecuador. Our Pu-erh tea comes from the Yunnan province in China.
  • Trio of Medicinal Mushrooms – Our medicinal mushrooms are wild and sourced from the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
  • Raw Apple Cider Vinegar – Our raw apple cider vinegar is sourced from organic apples in Sonoma County, CA.

Does Alive contain alcohol?

No, Alive does not contain alcohol. However, the process used to make the raw apple cider vinegar in Alive may form trace amounts of alcohol that are considered negligible.

VeggieKefir is a line of savory, vegetable-based living probiotic shots.

How is VeggieKefir made?

VeggieKefir starts with handpicked raw produce that we thoughtfully ferment in small batches with vegan kefir cultures in a brine of purified water and grey sea salt. Once fermented, we fresh press our veggies to deliver a powerful shot with billions of living probiotics that supports gut health and nurtures your microbiome.

What kind of grains are used to make VeggieKefir?

VeggieKefir is 100% vegan, therefore milk kefir grains are never utilized. Instead, non-dairy kefir probiotics are used during the fermentation period.

What is the shelf-life of VeggieKefir?

VeggieKefir is viable for up to 25 weeks.

For how long can I consume from a bottle of VeggieKefir after opening?

Once a bottle is opened, it is good until the “Enjoy By” date, if kept refrigerated.

Both VeggieKefir and CocoKefir are fermented with vegan, non-dairy kefir cultures, and both are naturally rich in living probiotics. The overall flavor experience, however, will be very different for each unique line. CocoKefir has a tangy coconut taste, while VeggieKefir is savory with vegetables and spices.

Why aren’t all the ingredients in VeggieKefir organic?

We are still actively sourcing and qualifying the best organic suppliers.

Can I drink more than 2 oz of VeggieKefir per day?

Every person has a unique system, therefore we suggest listening to your body when trying to determine the appropriate amount for you. However, if you are a first-time customer it is best to slowly introduce VeggieKefir to your system; 2 oz is our general recommendation.

How do I consume VeggieKefir?

We suggest taking it as a daily shot, morning or night, on an empty stomach, but there’s no wrong way to take it. There are multiple ways to consume VeggieKefir. A few of our favorites:

Drink as a daily shot – a fast, efficient and delicious way to get billions of probiotics.

Use as a healthy ingredient in your favorite dressings and recipes for a savory kick (i.e. Fresh salsa with Tomatillo Habanero VeggieKefir).

Experiment as a flavorful mocktail ingredient (i.e. Virgin Bloody Mary with Kimchi VeggieKefir).

Is the base of VeggieKefir created the same for each flavor?

No, the base of each flavor is specially crafted with a unique blend of vegetables and spices.

Can I shake the bottle before opening?

Yes, gently shaking the bottle will help to disperse the vegetable pulp and spices.

What are the probiotic strains in VeggieKefir?

Our proprietary blend of probiotics consists (over 99%) of various Lactobacillus and Lactococcus probiotic strains that are akin to a typical kefir found in Eastern Europe or Russia. Less than 1% of the probiotics are yeasts, known to support a healthy microbiome.

How long can you guarantee the viability of the 15 billion CFUs in each shot?

The probiotics found in VeggieKefirs are thriving and alive at the time you consume them, swimming in a food matrix that supports them and are thus a more effective way to consume probiotics.

What are the health benefits of VeggieKefir?

Does VeggieKefir contain alcohol?

Like most cultured and/or raw foods, such as Kombucha, apple cider vinegar, kimchi, and fresh juices, trace amounts of naturally occurring alcohol can form in VeggieKefir due to its active and fermented characteristics, however the trace amounts are negligible and far below 0.5%.

Can I drink VeggieKefir after its “Enjoy By” date?

For best quality and flavor, it’s best to drink VeggieKefir on or before the “Enjoy By” date. Therefore, we do not recommend drinking VeggieKefir once the “Enjoy By” date has passed.
